I wish I had a computer in the shower. That’s where i get my best ideas, and when in the shower, I probably am the furthest away from a writing situation ever. Why just the other day I was pondering a proposal from my wife, that we relegate my “stuff” aka stuff she doesn’t want in the main living areas to a single room. This is kind of uncool in my opinion, because a single room would doubtfully hold all my stuff. My solution to this dilemma is to move into a house with an unfinished basement, and the basement would be mine. I started planning out what I would include in my area, how i would lay it out, and how I could ensure tranquility. First, I would want a sound stage, or some area where I could jam out and play my music at the “appropriate level” (thanks, Garth) without disturbing the old lady. I would want to make this room not only a jam-out room, but like a space-out room with cool lights, and the ability to make absolute darkness would be key. I would also need a “lab” for my home brewing. This would include shelves and work surfaces of varying heights, a sink of appropriate size, and adequate drainage. I was thinking about making the lab be like one half of a larger room, being separated by a wine rack accessible by both sides (and/or a fish tank), and the other side be like a social room or a lair or something like that (rot-gut room á la Roger Rabbit maybe?)
